Professional Underwater Photography Course
In this course, you will apply the advanced camera skills you already know and combine them with the knowledge you will acquire to correctly operate underwater strobes. For this course specifically, if you don’t have equipment that meets the course requirements you will be using a professional DSLR - Canon 5DMkIII (with the option to upgrade to Canon 5DSR) in an Aquatica housing with a 9-inch dome porch and two Ikellite DS160 Strobes.
You will be fully focusing on how and when to utilize strobes to your advantage as well as understanding what the optimal camera settings are for each given scenario in any type of conditions.
Additionally, you will learn how to get the most from your images by editing them, using advanced techniques in Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop. This course will also cover important underwater composition concepts as well as offering you the option to try macro photography should you wish to do so. You will finish with beautiful pictures that are ready to share!
The Professional Underwater Photography course is experience-based, which means you will spend most of your time with a camera in your hands and a scuba tank on your back.
On the first day, you will attend a morning theory class to better understand basic strobe information. In the afternoon, you will complete two dives to collect underwater content. The following day, which is the only dry day, is fully dedicated to understanding advanced editing techniques required for the rest of the course.
Over the next three days, you'll engage in two morning dives, followed by afternoon editing sessions. During these sessions, you'll apply the advanced editing techniques that you learnt on day 2, while also progressively acquiring additional relevant editing skills to achieve the desired look to your photos.
During the final three days, participants will also engage in Fish Tracking & Behavior methods. This crucial knowledge will enable you to better understand how to approach and behave around aquatic life, facilitating the type of passive interaction necessary to achieve stunning compositions. This information has been personally gathered and practiced by our highly experienced media instructor for over a decade of underwater interactions with aquatic life. Learn from the best!
